The game's storyline follows the events of Rusty Lake: Roots, set in the year 1935. You play as William Vanderboom, and your task is to travel through a portal in the room. Inside, you will encounter several cubes that will transform you into different animals. This concept is inspired by the Sanskrit word "Saṃsāra," which means "wandering" or "world," representing the cyclic nature of life.

Samsara Room offers a variety of puzzles, more than the original release, while still maintaining the central story of the Rusty Lake series. The game begins with you alone in a peculiar room, containing objects such as a telephone, a mirror, a grandfather clock, and more. The appearance of the room and your character will change depending on the object placed on the portal area.

For example, entering a heart-shaped portal will reveal a completely normal room, while a gecko-shaped entrance will turn the room upside down, with you standing on the ceiling. The room always contains a clock, phone, cabinet, and chest of drawers, but their appearance and functionality will vary based on the room's form. Additional objects will only appear when the room is in a specific configuration.

Samsara Room offers a unique and enjoyable take on escape rooms, with its absurd yet captivating concept and imagery. The gameplay may be short, but it is highly engaging and rewarding.
