RetroBar is a downloadable file that allows users to customize their Windows 10 desktop operating system to resemble the classic Windows taskbar. Created by independent developer dremin aka Sam Johnson, this free personalization program offers a nostalgic touch to modern PCs.

Similar to WindowBlinds, RetroBar lets users change the appearance and functionality of their taskbar. However, RetroBar takes a more old-school approach by offering an XP-style taskbar appearance and functionality, bringing back the retro vibe of Windows 95 and XP.

Using RetroBar is simple and hassle-free. It is a portable program that does not require installation. After downloading the file, users can extract the contents of the .zip file and run the executable (.exe) file to start using RetroBar immediately. The existing taskbar will be replaced by a new one, resembling the taskbar used in Windows 95 and 98. The system tray and start button will also be changed to complete the retro look.

All taskbar shortcuts are retained despite the change, and users can access RetroBar's properties by right-clicking on any blank space. Inside the properties, users can customize various taskbar options, such as showing the clock, quick launch icons, or selecting a different theme. RetroBar offers six styles to choose from, including Windows 2000, Windows 95/98, Windows ME, and Windows XP Blue or Windows XP Classic.

If users want to revert to their standard taskbar, they can simply exit the program. RetroBar is just an overlay and will close immediately. However, it's important to note that RetroBar does not support textless icons on the taskbar, which may result in clutter when multiple programs are running. Additionally, it will disable the majority of context menu options from the taskbar.
